Assistant Housekeeping Manager Job Description :

The Assistant Housekeeping Manager is responsible for assisting the Housekeeping Manager in the day-to-day operations of the department. He/she will oversee the work of the housekeeping staff to ensure that all rooms are clean and well-maintained, and that all guests are satisfied with the level of service. The Assistant Housekeeping Manager will also be responsible for training new staff, and for developing and implementing departmental policies and procedures. He/she will work closely with the Housekeeping Manager to ensure that the department is running smoothly and efficiently.

The ideal candidate will have previous experience working in a hotel or similar environment, and will have supervisory experience. He/she must be able to work well under pressure, and must be able to handle a fast-paced work environment. He/she must also be able to work a flexible schedule, including weekends and holidays.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Schedule and assign work to subordinates, taking into account special requests and workload fluctuations
  • Inspect guest rooms, public areas, and back-of-the-house areas to ensure they meet established cleanliness and quality standards
  • Investigate complaints regarding housekeeping service and equipment, and take corrective action as necessary
  • Recommend or arrange for additional services such as carpet cleaning and furniture refinishing
  • Coordinate work activities with other departments such as engineering, laundry, and security to ensure maximum efficiency
  • Monitor inventory of supplies and equipment, and place orders when necessary
  • Train new employees in job duties and company policies
  • Evaluate employee performance and provide feedback to improve productivity and effectiveness
  • Enforce safety regulations and procedures
  • Prepare reports on work activities and budget expenditures
  • Participate in the development and implementation of departmental goals, objectives, and budgets
  • Perform other related duties as required

Required Skills and Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Proven experience as an assistant housekeeping manager or supervisor in a hotel or similar setting
  • Excellent communication, customer service, and time-management skills
  • Ability to delegate responsibilities while maintaining organizational control of branch operations and customer service
  • Highly trained in conflict management and business negotiation processes
  • Knowledge of general business software and an aptitude for learning new applications
